Theophany Academy is called to be faithful to Christ in everything we do. From curriculum to pedagogy, from governance to daily routines, we seek to plan and to act in the light that has been shined by Orthodox Christian doctrine and practice throughout the ages – particularly the doctrine of the Incarnation of the Logos, the Word of God, Christ the Lord, who took on flesh to reveal in order to manifest to us the light of the Holy Trinity and to unite man to God.

About
What do Orthodox Christians believe?
Orthodox Christians believe in the Incarnation of the Son of God, the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, the authority of Scripture, the teachings of the Church Fathers, the intercessions of the Saints, the reality of the Sacraments, and the power of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. An Orthodox Christian's most constant prayer is "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."
“By seizing upon our children’s God-ordained ability to commit verses, creeds, hymns, lists, and much more to memory when they are still very young, we are helping them to ‘fill the cupboard’ of their souls.”
St. Cyril of Jerusalem
What makes Theophany an Orthodox School?
Daily Schedule
Every day begins with prayer. At 8:30 a.m. the students and Tutors stand before icons of Christ and His saints to recite a small rule of prayer that will include the reading of Scripture and the singing of the Troparion of Theophany or a hymn for the liturgical season. The students and Tutors also end the school day with prayer in a similar manner.
Church Calendar
The school calendar is not submitted to the secular conventions, but rather conforms to the pattern of the church through observance of liturgical seasons, including the use of different prayers and hymns at morning prayer and other times during the seasons of Great Lent, Paschaltide, and the week after the Elevation of the Holy Cross
Classroom Activities
-
Psalms and liturgical hymns learned and sung
-
Saints lives read and retold

Church Participation
On occasion (monthly when possible), the school body will begin the school day by attending divine liturgy together at a local Orthodox parish. Parents will be informed and invited to join us. If they do not plan to attend liturgy themselves, parents will sign a field trip permission slip giving consent to have their student transported between church and school as needed.
